New Age Ideas

March 18, 2014 by John Amy

What types of New Age thinking, therapies and objects have you come across?

  1. In groups, design a simple questionnaire asking people about their religious beliefs and about whether they believe in any aspects of New Age thinking. Find out if respondents have used any New Age products, such as crystals, Hopi ear candles or tarot cards, and whether they share New Age ideas, such as astrology, Feng Shui or colour therapy.
  2. In using your questionnaire, try to include a wide range of contacts in terms of age and gender. Each researcher should try to find five contacts.
  3. Look for patterns in your results. How are New Age beliefs related to people’s religious beliefs? Do your findings match the gender patterns explained towards the end of this section?
