Something to Think About : Control

March 18, 2014 by John Amy

Question 1: Hirschi asks why people don’t commit crime.

  • Why do you think people don’t commit crime?
  • What would you be most concerned about if you were caught committing a crime?

Question 2: Why do members of the public report regularly in surveys that they would like to see more police ‘on the beat’ in their area?

Question 3: Does you school or college have a zero tolerance policy towards any particular type of behaviour?

If so, what is it?

  • Suggest three types of student behaviour towards which a zero tolerance policy could be applied.
  • What might be the possible effects of this on behaviour and on the school/ college generally?
